Meeting Format
Our meetings always include a programmed event. Whether it’s a trunk show where quilters share their work, Quilt College, when members share specific skills, guest speakers, or the annual holiday celebration, you’re sure to find new inspiration, get helpful information, and build relationships with other quilters.
A portion of the meeting is set aside for Show & Tell. Bring your favorite quilt, a recent project, or a work in progress. This is a supportive, encouraging group that enjoys seeing lots and lots of quilts.
There is also time to catch up with friends, and chat about quilting on our refreshment break. But you may want to take time to peruse the monthly fundraisers:
- Raffle Baskets with lots of quilting goodies
- Fat Quarter Raffle- For every fat quarter (in the color of the month) you contribute, you receive a ticket for the raffle of the entire fat quarter collection of that month.
Challenges
VMQG members are encouraged to create, in a number of ways, and members are welcome to take up the challenge or just appreciate others’ efforts during Show & Tell. There might be a short-term project like using the color of the year, or long-term swap project when members create for each other. (Rice bag swap, Pizza Box Swap, Halloween Mug Rug, Ornament Exchange, to name a few- click here to see meeting details from previous years !)
And There’s More!
In addition to our monthly meetings, there are other planned activities in which members can participate. Past events have included:
- Retreat– a two day retreat to get together, socialize and work on your own projects without the distractions of every day life.
- Monthly Sewcials, members getting together over Zoom or in person to sew and catch up,
- Workshops given by quilters who presented trunk shows at a regular members’ meeting,
- Opportunity Quilts, a guild wide collaborative effort to make quilts for VMQG fundraisers,
- Philanthropy Sew-ins, when members brought their sewing machines to sew together for the day, and
- Progressive Brunch and Studio Tour.
